Exactly one decade after the first edition of O-PORT-UNIDADE in 2013 the most recent grape treading event took place in Vale Mendiz, Portugal on 22nd September. Literally bringing the harvest to an end, more than 30 producers were participating.

Leonardo), Daniel Niepoort (Niepoort), Luísa Amorim (Quinta Nova), Carlos Agrellos (Quinta do Noval), Jorge Pintão (Pocas), Paulo Coutinho (Quinta do Portal), Oscar Quevedo (Quevedo), Jorge Rosas (Ramos Pinto), Luís Sottomayor (Sogrape), Carla Tiago (Sogevinus), Charles Symington (Symington), Odile Bouchard (Quinta do Tedo), Isabel Abreu (Quinta Vale D. Maria), Francisco Ferreira (Quinta do Vallado), Fátima Lopes (Vallegre), Francisca van Zeller (van Zellers) and Elsa Couto (Quinta do Ventozelo).

The organiser of the project, German Axel Probst from World of Port: “It is almost impossible to not bottle something well above average with all these prestigious producers and supporters and everyone is having fun doing this. Obviously, it needs someone from outside to bring the producers closer together. However without the fantastic support from the Niepoort this project would not have been possible.”

Background: The first edition of O-PORT-UNIDADE has united the 25 leading Port brands, produced a serious Vintage Port (e.g. 94PP), collected 100.000 Euro and transferred this to Bagos D’Ouro in 2015, an association which supports underprivileged children and youngsters in the Douro Valley, one of the poorest areas in Western Europe.
